The Majestic St. John the Divine

Oh Hello,

During this past weekend while visiting New York I discovered an inspiring, beautiful and tradition cathedral on the Upper West Side.  While walking in Harlem I notice in the far distance a large domed building.  Following the sight I soon found this gem.  The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine http://www.stjohndivine.org sits majestically on the corner of Amsterdam and Cathedral Parkway.

Walking up to the church I was in awe by the staircase, statues,and enormous doors. When entering the medieval style cathedral the sounds of a choir echoed through the sanctuary. Colored light from the amazing stained glass windows cascaded down the walls and floors. I was inspired by this majestic marble and stone building. As I was exiting the church the pipe organ bellowed an amazing hymn. The sound was so overwhelming it literally vibrated within me.  Wow what an invigorating experience! A Water Taxi and Chinatown Chicago

Oh Hello,

While taking a Water Taxi ( http://www.chicagowatertaxi.com )on the Chicago River our last stop was in front of a very inviting Pagoda pavilion! My friend and I got off at the Ping Tom Memorial Park in Chinatown Chicago. ( http://www.chicagochinatown.org )  I was instantly drawn to the style of the pavilion and the surroundings.  There were children playing, a teacher and student practicing Martial Arts and folks relaxing on the greens.  Following the small crowd for a short walk we were suddenly in the midst of dragons, pagodas, and Chinese gifts stores!

This was an amazing place to visit.  You get the "feel" of actually being in China!  Design inspiration is around every corner!  I love the elegant, yet simple and functional design.  I also enjoyed seeing the bright beautiful colors that adorn every building and sign.

A Grand Entrance

Oh hello...

I was walking through Lincoln Park last week and discovered this great entry way; I think it is beautiful.  I love the scale, masonry detail and Doric columns.  The brick walkway, grand arch and light post create a feeling as if you are walking through time. I was expecting to see a women walk through with a parasol at any moment. The wonderful flowers and plants create a very welcoming feeling...I instinctively wanted to walk through it!
